ROUTE DESCRIPTION
The starting point for cycling tours is in the city centre, opposite the Tržič bus station. Parking is possible in public parking areas (parking lots at the Municipality of Tržič, on Predilniška Road at the entrance to the city-BPT, at the Tržič Olympians Hall, along the street Za Mošenikom, among others).
From Tržič, take the road to the southwest towards Bistrica pri Tržiču, where you turn left towards Kovor. In front of the bus station in Loka, turn right from the main road onto a forest trail. Cross the stream and follow the trail towards Hušica. When you reach the first clearing, continue to the left. A short, mild ascent follows, which takes you to the next clearing. Here you turn right, and after 50 m follow the trail to the left. After 500 m of ascent – you will need to walk your bike along short sections due to the more difficult surface – you will come to Hušica. At the sign, turn right onto the road through Hušica towards Brezje pri Tržiču. At the bottom of the village, turn left in the direction of Leše/Vadiče. When you reach the lower part of the village of Leše, turn left, where the asphalt turns into a nice gravel road. Ride through the village of Peračica and 900 m beyond the village turn sharply left onto a side road (look for the signs for the Rosary Trail). If you were to continue straight, you would arrive in Brezje, where the pilgrimage Rosary Trail begins and ends.
After less than a kilometre, the trail branches off to the right, and crosses Strašnik Brook over Zupan footbridge. Follow the signs for the Rosary Trail towards Hudo. After 850 m turn right towards the meadow: the Rosary Trail continues to the left uphill. Following the path across the meadow, descend to the Kovor-Brdo road, where you turn sharply right towards Brdo. Before the road starts to climb right towards Brdo, turn left and ride for 1 km. Turn left onto a path that soon turns right uphill and takes you to a good forest road. After that, at the wayside shrine in front of Podbreška Gmajna, join the main road and cycle left towards Zvirče. In Kovor, turn right, ride past the school and along the underpass under the main road. At the crossroads at the bottom of the hill, turn left towards Loka and Tržič. Ride through Loka, below Gorenjska Beach, at the junction with the main road, turn left and then after 200 m turn right. Follow the main road into the town to return to the starting point in Tržič.
good to know
The somewhat more demanding ascent along the trail from Loka to Hušica can be avoided by staying along the road through Kovor and Hudo.
