ROUTE DESCRIPTION

From the parking lot in Ljubelj, follow the service road along the former ski slope towards Zelenica. The ascent is very steep, and due to the difficult surface you will walk your bike along most of the way, but this will allow you to enjoy the views of the northern walls of Begunjščica all the more.

At Zelenica Mountain Hostel you can enjoy a meal and a rest as you prepare for the descent. Ascend across the meadow to the saddle, where the Border Patrol Trail begins – a trail used during Yugoslav times to monitor the border with Austria. Caution: some sections of the route on the descent are technically very challenging; pay special attention to the crossings over runoff gullies and in the last part of the trail to the wide concrete ditches constructed on the ski slope.
